• Updated Aug 29, 2015 at 9:30 AM

KINGSPORT – Kingsport's Parks and Recreation Department is offering archery classes for beginners ages 8 and up.

The program will be held indoors at the Lynn View Community Center on Monday evenings from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. beginning on Sept. 21. The cost for the six-week course is $25 and registration opens Sept. 1 and runs through the beginning class date.

Kenny Lawson, program coordinator for parks and recreation, said limited spots are available and that he typically has 15 students per class.

"If we have more to sign up we just split the class and offer another day for the sessions. I usually average 12 students per class," Lawson said. "I have had a lot of parents take the class with their child. Grandparents have taken the class as well."

The instructions are certified by the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency.

For more information or to register contact Kenny Lawson at 423-224-2428 or by email at kennylawson@kingsporttn.gov.
