Kingsport celebrates community planning day

KINGSPORT – The City of Kingsport will be celebrating community planning day Tuesday morning in downtown Kingsport.

The opening ceremony will begin at 8:15 a.m. at the parklet at the intersection of Broad and Center Street, featuring special guests and Kingsport Development Services Department staff.

The event will include presentations and demonstrations representing historical, current and future urban planning projects along with a one block walking tour. The event concludes at 11:45 a.m.

A “Downtown Forward” presentation will be at 9:15 a.m. in the Downtown Kingsport Association meeting room, then the “Walking History and Future” tour will take place, followed by an exhibit of the upcoming Centennial Park on Main Street.

Food trucks will be on hand and participants can eat in a covered eating area. The event will also include historical character presentations and an Active Transportation Rest Area demonstration.

The event is free and open to the public.
