Kingsport Public Library offers full slate of youth activities

The Kingsport Public Library has a number of upcoming events for youth.

Interested in the Kingsport Public Library’s Makerspace? Want to make a robot with the Cubelets? Or how about making a stop motion movie? The library is having open labs Feb. 20 and 27 from 3 to 5 p.m. The event is free and open to “children” of all ages.

You don’t have to be bitten by the love bug to tell someone how special they are to you! Visit the Kingsport Public Library’s Open Makerspace lab on Feb. 13 at 3 p.m. to make a card to give to the Valentine in your life! The event is free and open to the public; no signup required.

Time for Two’s Storytime, for children 24-36 months old, will be held Feb. 20 at 10:30 a.m. in the library’s auditorium. Join in for fun stories, songs, action rhymes and puppet shows. The February themes are “U is for Up Above and Down Below,” “V is for Valentine’s Day,” and “W is for Who is in the Zoo?”

Preschool Storytime, for children 3-5 years old, will be held Feb. 18 and 25 at 10:30 a.m. in the library’s auditorium. Join in for fun stories, songs, action rhymes and puppet shows! Our themes will be “U is for Up Above and Down Below,” “V is for Valentine’s Day,” “W is for Who is in the Zoo,” and “X is for X Marks the Spot.”

LEGO® Builders Unite during LEGO® Club for grades K-5 on Feb. 17 from 3:30 5:30 p.m. in the library’s auditorium. Registration is required, and space is limited. Call (423) 229-9366 to reserve a spot.

Bundle up and celebrate the coziest time of year during Kingsport Public Library’s Winter Party on Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. There’ll be snow-themed, family-friendly games and crafts. The event is free and open to the public.

Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to put their racing skills to the test at the Kingsport Public Library’s Teen MarioKart Tournament on Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. in the library’s auditorium. There is no cost to participate.
