Cherokee NJROTC advances to Level II of national Academic Bowl

ROGERSVILLE — The Cherokee High School NJROTC team advanced to Level II after competing in Level 1 (Division 2) of the College Options Foundation JROTC Academic Bowl on Nov. 18.

According to the College Options Foundation, 219 high school Navy JROTC Teams around the county participated in the 2019-2020 JROTC Academic Bowl.

Cherokee’s team was one of only 33 teams from Division 2 that advanced to Level II of the competition.

Schools were assigned to a division based on the demographics questions answered by each team during registration. In the event of a tie in Level II, the tie-breaker will be the teams’ scores in Level I.

Level II will be held online Feb. 1-15 and will determine the eight teams that will travel to Washington D.C. to participate in the championship in June.

Two teams in Division 1, two teams in Division 2, and four teams in Division 3 will advance to the championship. 

Cherokee team members are Zachary Eisenhuth, Austin Manning, Ian Stewart, Gabriel Lyons, Katlyn Ramsey and Brandon Yates.
