Full slate of Holy Week events planned at First Broad Street UMC

KINGSPORT — Are you looking for ways to celebrate Holy Week?

If so, First Broad Street United Methodist Church has several events coming up that are open to the community.

March 25

The church will host its Children’s Easter Celebration from 2-4 p.m. on the grounds, with an Easter egg hunt and more. Everyone in the community is welcome.

March 26, 27 and 28

Noon Lenten Lunches will be held in the Fellowship Hall, and sandwiches will be provided. The church’s pastors will give short, inspirational talks. Donations are welcome to cover the cost of the meal.

March 29

The church will observe Maundy Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall with Holy Communion and feet washing.

March 30

The church will observe Good Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary with John Rutter’s “Requiem” being performed.

April 1

Easter Sunday will be celebrated beginning with a sunrise service held at the Glen Bruce Park gazebo, followed by traditional services at 8:30, 9:40 and 10:45 a.m. or contemporary services at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m.
