WISE — The Wise County Board of Supervisors made a last-minute switch Thursday in the day and time of their recessed meting; it isn’t Wednesday after all.

In a vote after two newspapers’ reporters left the board’s Thursday meeting, the supervisors voted to recess the meeting until Monday at 6 p.m., board Clerk Annette Underwood said Friday.

Earlier in Thursday’s meeting, after several minutes of discussion centering on schedule conflicts for board Vice Chairman and District 4 Supervisor Robby Robbins and District 2 Supervisor Steve Bates for a possible Monday meeting, board Chair Dana Kilgore said the meeting would be recessed until Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Underwood, calling the Times News with a correction, said the board voted after the normal board members’ comments section of the meeting to recess until Monday.

County Administrator Mike Hatfield is expected to present a draft budget for board discussion Monday.

In another change, Robbins moved Thursday to change an entry in the board preliminary April minutes, in which he was reported saying that he supported a seven-cent increase in the county’s real estate property tax approved at the board’s April 11 meeting.

Robbins said Thursday that he supported the increase on the condition that two cents of the rate increase be dedicated to paying on county schools’ debt service.

According to an April 12 Times News report on that meeting, Robbins voted for the increase on the condition that two cents of the rate be used for county debt service on new facilities for county department offices.

The board will meet Monday at 4 p.m. at the Wise County School Board meeting room on Lake Street.
