KINGSPORT — The Greater Kingsport Family YMCA has named Kimberly Cousineau as its new CEO. According to a press release, Cousineau will be joining the local operation in February.

Cousineau has served the national YMCA organization since 2013 as the resource director and business consultant for 23 local YMCA CEOs and boards. In that role, she provides executive coaching and direct oversight of support through strategic projects that increased the capacity of the Y’s she served.

During her 25-year career with the YMCA, Cousineau has held the following positions:

— CEO of the YMCA of Sumter, S.C.

— Chief operating officer of the Cannon Memorial YMCA in Concord/Kannapolis, N.C.

— Senior program director at the YMCA of Northwest N.C. in Winston-Salem

Cousineau graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree is exercise physiology.

“I’m excited to build relationships with the staff and members of this YMCA, while also familiarizing myself with the community to connect with the partners focused on improving the quality of life for those we serve,” Cousineau said. “The Kingsport YMCA has a significant influence, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to be a part of important work we will do together in the future.”

Cousineau will be joined in Kingsport by her husband, J.R.; her 19-year-old daughter, Carlee; and their 10-year-old long-haired dachshund, Olivia. A search committee of YMCA board members and several community leaders managed the process of filling the CEO vacancy, with facilitation assistance by YMCA of the USA.
