Prep Roundup: Bonneville soccer takes region lead with golden goal over Ogden

OGDEN — Jaiden Marriott scored a golden-goal winner in the 96th minute as Bonneville (7-3-1, 6-1 Region 11) took a one-game lead atop the Region 11 standings by beating Ogden (4-6-1, 4-4) in a 1-0 decision Friday.

In the second period of extra time, Brandon Bejarano Arenas corralled the ball and kept it in play, sent a pass to Breckin McMillan who hit a cross into the box where Marriott scored.

The win means Bonneville stays in first place above of Park City (5-2 Region 11) ahead of the Lakers' Monday showdown at Ben Lomond (4-3 Region 11).

LAYTON 2, WEBER 0

Braeden Young and Braeden Moon scored in the second half as Layton (4-2-1, 3-1-1 Region 1) handed Weber (6-2, 4-1) its first region loss in a matchup of defending region champions.

ROY 4, BOUNTIFUL 3

Gabe Johnson scored the winner for Roy with two minutes remaining as the Royals (8-1, 2-0 Region 5) came back from 3-1 down and won a Region 5 thriller against Bountiful (0-7-2, 0-1).

Cody Moore scored twice and Colton Hill got on the scoresheet for Roy.

WOODS CROSS 3, VIEWMONT 1

Woods Cross (6-6-1, 1-1 Region 5) scored all three of its goals in the first half as the Wildcats beat Viewmont (4-4-1, 0-2).

Davis Creer, Kayson Parkin and Jackson Ensign got on the scoresheet for Woods Cross. Preston Pitt netted for the Vikings.

MORGAN 2, GRANTSVILLE 0

Bradley Allgaier scored a brace as Morgan (6-7-1, 2-2-1 Region 13) picked up a region road win at Grantsville (7-5, 0-5).

Trek Loveridge recorded the shutout in goal for the Trojans.

ST. JOSEPH 4, INT. CHRISTIAN 3

Bob Shoof scored a first-half hat trick and St. Joseph (4-2, 3-1 Region 16) edged Intermountain Christian. Luis Gill scored for the Jayhawks in the second half.

SOFTBALL

BEAR RIVER 12, FREMONT 10

Fremont had four players hit home runs, but Bear River had a big enough lead to withstand that as the Bears won a non-region slugfest.

Taylor Fox hit two doubles with two RBIs and both Mercedes Call and Bailey Theurer went 2 for 3 with three runs scored. Theurer was the winning pitcher for Bear River.

Brianna George, Kynlee Hoggan, Ashtyn Meibos and Stalee Hadley all homered for Fremont, who tied the game 8-8 with a four-run fourth inning. George hit a two-run homer and had three RBIs.

WOODS CROSS 21, VIEWMONT 9

Woods Cross (3-4, 2-4 Region 5) came back from a 9-0 deficit in the fourth inning, scoring 21 unanswered runs — including 11 in the seventh inning — to beat Viewmont (1-10, 0-6) in Region 5 play Friday.

The Vikings scored seven runs in the third inning and one more in the fourth to lead 9-0. The Wildcats scored five runs in the fifth, five more in the sixth and 11 in the seventh.

Sara Morrison, Ari Ayala and Mekenna Trader each drove in three runs for Woods Cross. Trader had four hits.

HERRIMAN 16, SYRACUSE 2

Herriman beat Syracuse in a non-region game resumed in the third inning after being postponed and rescheduled earlier this season.

Ashlee Schriever went 2 for 3 with an RBI single and Kyle Derrick drove in a run. Herriman led 8-0 when the game was postponed.

MOUNTAIN CREST 9, LAYTON 4

Shelby Moss, Mallory Anderson and Emily Bennion hit doubles, but Layton fell to Mountain Crest. Anderson and Bennion each drove in a run for the Lancers.

Ogden at Ben Lomond: Rescheduled to April 18.

Northridge at Weber: Rescheduled to April 18.

Morgan at Judge Memorial: No reschedule info available.

BASEBALL

CLEARFIELD 4, NORTHRIDGE 3 (10)

Dougrey Humphrey drove in three runs, the third coming on a walk-off base hit in the 10th inning, as Clearfield (9-6, 7-2 Region 1) swept Northridge (5-9, 3-6) and remained tied for first place in Region 1 with Davis.

Jacob Rhoades gave Northridge a 1-0 lead with an RBI base hit in the first inning. Humphrey responded with a two-run single in the second, followed by Chandler Kotter’s RBI single that made it 3-1.

Alex West tied the game in the top of the seventh for Northridge with a two-run single of his own.

The Knights had chances in the top of the 10th inning, but Falcons pitcher Tyler Jorgensen got Clearfield out of the jam and into the bottom half of the frame, where Humphrey’s hit won it.

DAVIS 9, WEBER 7

Davis (11-4, 7-2 Region 1) scored five runs in the final two innings to win the series against Weber (8-5, 2-4). Parker Jensen drove in three runs and Adam Hackmeister drove in two for Davis.

The Darts led 9-5 heading to the bottom of the seventh where Weber scored twice, but couldn’t complete the rally. Brandon Capener had two RBIs for the Warriors.

VIEWMONT 11, WOODS CROSS 1

Viewmont (5-5, 3-0 Region 5) completed a sweep over Woods Cross (4-12, 0-3) with a run-rule victory thanks to a seven-run fourth inning in which the Vikings strung together six consecutive hits.

Cam Barnson pitched all five innings for Viewmont, allowing one run. Noah Montoya and Aaron Bredsguard each had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run.

MORGAN 8, SOUTH SUMMIT 5

Alex Harden drove in three runs and Jake Rounkles knocked in two as Morgan (6-11, 2-7 Region 13) won Friday’s Region 13 rubber match against South Summit.

POSTPONED
