KINGSPORT — A man has been arrested after allegedly exposing his genitalia to a woman in the parking lot of a shopping center.

According to a report filed at the Kingsport Police Department, the incident occurred Wednesday at about 10:45 p.m. The victim said as she was in her vehicle outside PetSmart on North Eastman Road, a man in a red Honda opened his door.

After waving at her, the man allegedly exposed himself and began masturbating. A responding officer found the suspect, Joshua Christensen, 42, Kingsport, still in the parking lot. Christensen was arrested and charged with indecent exposure.

Last week, the Times News Police Blotter reported on similar, recurring incidents at the Kingsport Pavilion on East Stone Drive.

Since August, at least two complaints have been filed about a man in a BMW exposing himself to women while fondling himself. KPD Public Information Officer Tom Patton says an investigation of those incidents is continuing.

“Not only is this sort of lewd behavior offensive, it is also illegal and inexcusable,” Patton said. “Citizens who witness such actions are strongly encouraged to report it to the police for investigation and prosecution.”
