— When a woman, 35, visited an apartment to check on her father, she found him sleeping with a woman, also 35. She then punched that female in the face, leaving a large knot on her right eye. When questioned by police, the suspect admitted to the incident, saying she was angry because her father is still married to her mother. She was arrested for simple assault.
— A mail carrier called police to Carolina Avenue, complaining about a dog chained in a front yard. He said it has run at him several times and forced him to spray it with mace. That reportedly spurred the owner to threaten, “I know what time you will be here tomorrow.” When an officer told the resident to bring the dog in at delivery time, he argued that the postman should carry dog treats. He then said he was going to file a complaint with the Postal Service. Police took no action, while the carrier noted he “did not have time for any problems during work.”
— Vandalism was reported at Food City on Clinchfield Street. According to the victim, an unknown woman yelled at her for “taking her parking spot.” After the complainant did her shopping and returned to her vehicle, she found a “large scratch” on the hatch.
— A man was charged with trespassing and burglary at Hunger First. During the night, he reportedly kicked in a door to get to supplies, then dispensed them to other homeless people. He also removed a mattress for himself to sleep on. When arrested, he said he would “tell the judge” there was nothing wrong with his actions.
— At about 9:30 p.m., police were alerted to a man walking in traffic on North Eastman Road and trying to flag down motorists. Near Reedy Creek, an officer found him holding extended utility knives in each hand while “flailing his arms.” At gunpoint, he followed commands to drop the weapons and lie down, then admitted to taking meth, hallucinating and being afraid that “someone was after him.” Before being booked into jail for disorderly conduct, he was transported to a hospital for an evaluation.
