Sheriff Ronnie Lawson said the U.S. Marshals Service contacted him Wednesday afternoon requesting the Tactical Unit to assist in apprehending a drug store robbery suspect wanted in Abingdon, Va.
Logan Parsons, 27, was wanted for two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, and eluding police in Washington County, Va., and also had pending a pending warrant in Sullivan County for aggravated assault.
Police reportedly had the Choo Choo Trailer Park off Carters Valley Road near Mount Carmel under surveillance when Parsons was spotted entering a mobile home Wednesday evening.
Parsons, who was alone, refused to come out. The standoff started at about 8 p.m. and ended shortly after 9 p.m. when Parsons surrendered.
“My Tactical Unit and U.S. Marshals Service took a male subject in custody after a standoff,” Lawson said. “The suspect was wanted in Virginia for armed robbery and also wanted in Sullivan County.”
Lawson added, “Time was on our side and he gave up after about an hour. The main thing is no one got hurt. Everybody got to go home.”
The trailer park was evacuated during the standoff, and Carters Valley Road was closed east of the Valley Mart to the trailer park during the standoff.
Parsons was taken to the Sullivan County Jail.
