ROGERSVILLE — A Rogersville man who allegedly threw a glass of water on his mother and slapped her Tuesday morning was apparently seeing children that didn’t exist and thought his mother was attempting to poison him.

Tuesday was the 35th birthday of Chad Everett Fannin, 1631 E. Main Street, Rogersville.

His mother told police he’d been “talking out of his head all day.”

Shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday RPD Officer Andy Banks responded to a 911 hangup call at Fannin’s residence.

Upon his arrival Banks found Fannin standing outside in front of the residence.

“Mr. Fannin advised me there were kids in the residence and they needed to leave, and that his mother was feeding him asbestos,” Banks said.

His mother verified that there were no children at the residence and that Fannin had been,  “talking out of his head all day.”

“She stated that he had been outside, and when he came in he threw a cup of water on her and slapped her mouth, just prior to her calling (911),” Banks said.

Banks observed redness on the mother’s lip, and Fannin was charged with domestic assault.

He was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in sessions court, and as of Thursday he remained held in the Hawkins County Jail with no bond set.
