KINGSPORT — Kingsport police are investigating a Thursday afternoon shooting at a home on Alderwood Drive.

Police said one man was transported to the hospital by EMS and the alleged shooter fled.

At about 3 p.m., police responded to the 3900 block of Alderwood Drive, finding a 19-year-old shot in the leg. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, and detectives launched an investigation. Their efforts reportedly tabbed the shooter as Travis Gale Bishop, 39, of Ernie Drive in Kingsport.

Police say this is an isolated incident, as the two were acquainted, and there is no danger to the public at large. Bishop allegedly entered the home “unlawfully” and a struggle ensued, resulting in the gunfire and the victim being shot.

Bishop left the scene, according to police, and as of Thursday evening had not been located. He is described as 6 feet tall and 180 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Kingsport police ask that anyone with information on Bishop’s location call (423) 229-9429 or (423) 246-9111.
