GATE CITY – The victim in a November car crash on Daniel Boone Road died Monday from his injuries.

Virginia State Police spokesperson Corinne Geller said Wednesday that Richard M. Bird, 72, of Gate City died at Johnson City Medical Center after treatment since Nov. 22 after he was ejected from his Jeep Renegade.

Geller said that Bird was driving south on Daniel Boone road about a mile west of the Route 643 intersection at 3:10 p.m. when his vehicle crossed the center line and ran off the left side of the road. The Jeep then went up an embankment and overturned several times, ejecting Bird.

Bird was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, Geller said.

State Trooper S.L. Glovier is investigating the crash.
