Update: Victim identified in fatal Lee County crash

UPDATE: Virginia State Police on Thursday morning identified the victim of a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred in Lee County on Jan. 14.

The driver of the Dodge, John W. Conner, 78, of Harrogate, Virginia, died Tuesday evening after being transported to Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital. The crash remains under investigation.

JONESVILLE — A man died Tuesday following a two-vehicle crash in Lee County.

According to Virginia State Police Public Relations Director Corinne N. Geller, the VSP responded to the incident that occurred on Route 58 at the intersection of Flanary Bridge Road.

A 2005 Dodge Magnum was traveling on Flanary Bridge Road when it failed to stop for the posted stop sign and entered the intersection with Route 58, Geller said. The Dodge was struck by a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban on Route 58.

The driver of the Dodge, an adult male, was transported to Middlesboro ARH Hospital, where he died Tuesday evening. The crash remains under investigation.
