Dewey Daniel Galloway

DRYDEN, VA - Dewey Daniel Galloway, 78, of Dryden went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. 

He was born in Stonega, Virginia on February 18, 1940.  He retired from Westmorland Coal Company in 1990 and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Dewey was preceded in death by his parents Dewey Denver and Nan Galloway; brother Melvin Robert Galloway; sisters Macie Rose, Bertha McCarty, Cornie Hensley, Lorettea Mullins, Sue Lawson; daughter Cathy Holley; and great-grandson Nathan Case Haggerty Wilt.

Dewey is survived by his wife of 36 years, Joyce Ann (Kirk) Galloway of Dryden, VA; sister Sandra Bentley and brother-in-law Buford Bentley of Big Stone Gap; son Eddie Galloway and daughter-in-law Angela Galloway of Lancaster, KY; son Jeff Galloway of Richmond, KY; daughters Lisa Boggs and Pam Kuga of Jeannette, PA; grandchildren Nathanial and Grace Holley of Cary, NC, Sammy, Brynne, and Kayma Galloway of Lancaster, KY, Jeanne (Jeremy) Davis of Rawlings, MD and Rachel Haggerty of Westernport, MD ; Robbie Baker of Villa Rica, GA;  great-grandchildren Jeffrey, Hali, and Xzavier Wilt, Eric Fadley, Aaliyiah and Peyton Davis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The Galloway family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Roy A. Green Funeral Home, Appalachia, VA.  Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Rick Phillips officiating.  Procession will follow to Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, Big Stone Gap, VA for the committal.  Online condolences may be made at www.royagreenfuneralhome.com
