And it’s not too late to sign up for the spring season. In fact, assessments start at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 11 at Eastman Park at Horse Creek. Assessments will continue on March 12, 14 and 16.
“We anticipate an incredible season,” said Shane Davis, the newly appointed co-director of the KRSP. “We’re excited to help each athlete develop new skills and reach their potential.”
Davis said the goal of the program is to foster a love for the game while teaching the importance of teamwork, commitment and perseverance. Soccer is a great tool to help teach children important life lessons and develop a positive mindset, he added.
The KRSP is now accepting registrations for boys and girls, ages 3 to 16 who are interested in playing on a team. Parents may register their children at www.kingsportsoccer.org.
Registration fees are $65 per player with a $30 discount for each additional child per family. A limited number of scholarships are available. Three-year-old children may play for a $40 fee. Registration includes a team t-shirt and a trophy. Games will be played until May.
Davis, staff and volunteers are hoping to see a record number of participates this season.
“We currently have 180 kids registered to play,” said Davis. “We would love to see that number double.”
