Daniel Boone’s softball team was all of the above coming out of the weekend.
During their 12-game winning streak, the Lady Trailblazers allowed only 12 runs. They posted seven shutouts, outscoring their opponents 101-12 during the stretch.
Perhaps their most impressive accomplishment came Saturday when Boone blanked perennial state powerhouse Gibbs 2-0 to win Gibbs’ tournament. On a side note, Gibbs earned career win No. 900 for coach Carol Mitchell during the tourney.
The Lady ’Blazers — 34-5 heading into Monday’s game against Dobyns-Bennett — ranked No. 11 in the state by allowing just two runs per game.
Boone has seven Big 7 Conference games remaining and must navigate the tough waters of Science Hill and David Crockett. The three teams entered Monday tied for first place in the loss column.
