Sullivan East's Ellis no-hits Happy Valley in Patriots’ sweep of Warriors

ELIZABETHTON — Brantley Ellis fired a no-hitter in the Sullivan East baseball team’s Three Rivers conference 2-0 win over Happy Valley on Wednesday afternoon at Joe O’Brien Field, recording 15 strikeouts and walking just three.

Micahel Harrah was also tough on the mound for the Warriors, going 4 2/3 innings and allowing five hits while striking out six.

Sullivan East batters were able to work the Happy Valley staff for nine walks in the game.

Eli Millhorn recorded the only RBI on the day for Sullivan East.

Hunter Mullins had the only extra-base hit with a double.

The Patriots had a field day in the second game against the Warriors, mashing out 17 hits in the 17-2 win.

Dylan Bartley, Perry Casaday and Ellis each had a home run for East, and each finished with at least two RBIs. Millhorn also got in on the action, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Seth Chafin went 2-for-2 with two singles and four RBsI for the Patriots.

For Happy Valley, Charlie Smith was 1-for-1 with a double and an RBI.

Luke Hale was credited with the win, going four innings and striking out four.

Science Hill 3, David Crockett 2

JONESBOROUGH — The Lady Hilltoppers got a key Big 7 road win over David Crockett thanks to Sejal Neas’ play at the plate and in the circle.

Neas allowed five hits and struck out four. At the plate, she was 1-for-3, highlighted by a two-run home run in the fourth inning.

Kara Weems, pitching for the Lady Pioneers, allowed four hits and struck out six. She was also 1-for-3 at the dish with an RBI.

Jenna Davis had the other RBI for Crockett.

Sullivan East 18, Sullivan North 0

KINGSPORT — Chelsea Sams had a big day at the plate for the Lady Patriots, hammering two home runs — including a grand slam — and a triple en route to her 3-for-3, seven-RBI game.

Kylee Wolfe kept her standout season churning, going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.

Emma Timbs also had a solid day for East, going 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs.

Jillian Shackleford got the five-
inning, one-hit shutout for the Lady Patriots on just 83 pitches. She struck out eight.

Kaitlyn Lemmons singled in the fifth inning for North.

Tennessee High 20, University High 0

JOHNSON CITY — Nikki Duncan went 3-for-3 with a double and six RBIs to spearhead the Lady Vikings outburst in a nonconference win over the Lady Bucs.

Kaitlyn Honeycutt was dominant in the circle for Tennessee High, going the distance and allowing four hits while striking out five. She was also 2-for-4 at the dish with four RBIs.

Sydney Trosin had the only extra-base hit for UH with a double.

Heights (Ohio) 13, Unaka 3

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The Lady Rangers were not able to solve the pitching of the Lady Bees.

Unaka recorded just four hits in the contest but did coax five walks. Alana Parsons and Erika Potter each went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Lilie Kiser and Sarah Elliot recorded the other hits for Unaka.

Twin Springs 12, Rye Cove 2

NICKELSVILLE — Alyssa McCracken doubled and drove in three runs for the Lady Titans in a Cumberland District win over the Lady Eagles.

Baiylie Compton also doubled and scored four runs, while Emaleigh Powers finished 2-for-3 and drove in two runs.

Ashley Smith drove in two runs and hit a home run for the Lady Eagles.

Gate City 1, Ridgeview 0

CLINTWOOD — Avery Johnson hit a solo home in the top of the seventh for the only run of the game, giving the Lady Blue Devils the Mountain 7 win over the Wolfpack.

Kate Pendleton struck out five for Gate City.

Nikole Counts recorded nine strikeouts for the Lady Wolfpack.
