Surgoinsville Middle's musical Peter Pan Jr. packs 1,000 spectators into four performances

SURGOINSVILLE — More than 40 Surgoinsville Middle School students performed in the school’s Dec. 19 presentations of the musical “Peter Pan Jr.” to four capacity crowds in the school auditorium.

There were a total of four performances entertaining more than 1,000 spectators overall with 17 musical numbers.

Among the lead cast members were William Smith as Peter Pan; Bayley Jones as Tinker Bell; Eliza Smith as Captain Hook; Belle Fritts as Wendy Darling; Gabe Burns as John Darling; Jackson Helton as Michael Darling; John Burns as Mr. Smee; and Isaiah Carr as the Crocodile.

The 60-minute musical, designed for middle-school aged performers, is based on the play by J.M. Barrie and the 1953 Disney film. The 5th-8th grade cast contains approximately 45 students led by directors Robin and Josh Fritts.

Surgoinsville Middle School Musical Theater Club has performed several musicals including most recently “The Little Mermaid Jr.” and “High School Musical Jr.”
