KINGSPORT — Several past winners and runners-up of Kingsport Idol will be taking the stage again Saturday for a special all-star edition of the show.

Coordinator and host Mark Kilgore said more than 20 singers will be performing, and tickets are still available.

“This is some of the best talent,” Kilgore said. “We’ve never had this many at one time come back and perform on one stage, so we’re really excited.”

Event details

The event will begin at 5 p.m. inside the Kingsport Farmers Market. Doors will open at 4 p.m., and attendees should bring their own chairs.

Kilgore said each singer will perform two songs of his or her choosing. The event will not be a competition, unlike the regular Kingsport Idol shows.

“It’s just a showcase to show off the talent that we have in the community,” Kilgore said. “We’ve got former winners as far off as Big Stone Gap, Virginia, to Elizabethton. We have them all over the Tri-Cities.”

Kilgore said there are three ways to get tickets to the event. Attendees can either purchase them from one of the singers for $5, order them online at kingsportidols.com for $6 or buy them at the door on the night of the event for $8.

What’s next for Kingsport Idol?

After taking a year off last year, Kingsport Idol will be back for its regular shows later this year. Auditions will kick off in May, and Kilgore said the competition will be adding a duo and group category for the first time.

For those who can’t make it Saturday, another All-Star Kingsport Idol show will be held April 14 at the Kingsport Farmers Market. It will feature some of the winners and runners-up who were unable to participate in Saturday’s show.

“This has really grown over the years,” Kilgore said. “It’s probably the largest talent show in the Tri-Cities, so we’re really excited it’s coming back.”
