DaNell Daymon & Greater Works to perform free concert to celebrate Black History Month

KINGSPORT – A semifinalist on the popular TV show “America’s Got Talent” will be coming to town Thursday as part of a community celebration of Black History Month.

Who: DaNell Daymon & Greater Works, an award-winning gospel choir, participated in season 12 of “America’s Got Talent” and was eliminated in the semifinals.

DaNell Daymon, the leader and visionary of Greater Works, was born in Rochester, New York, and lived in Seattle, Washington, for 17 years. Daymon recently relocated to Washington, D.C., where he serves on the music staff at Mt. Ennon Baptist Church.

Daymon has a passion for bringing out the “brilliance” in the people of God, and the group’s mission is to “communicate God's love through song and presentation.”

Nineteen members of the original choir, including lead vocalists Kenisha and Erica, will be performing in Kingsport on Thursday in honor of Black History Month.

When and where: The concert, presented by Eastman, will take place Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Toy F. Reid Employee Center, located at 400 Wilcox Drive.

The public is invited to attend this free event. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and doors will open at 6:15 p.m.
