ROGERSVILLE — Heritage Days will again kick off on Friday evening with a favorite of festival goers, the Children’s Costume Contest and parade.

Festivities begin around 4:15 p.m. with costume contest registration in the First Baptist Church parking lot. Area children will gather, dressed in period costume to represent “People of our Heritage”.

Judging begins at 5 p.m. Prizes are awarded in individual and group categories. All participants will be recognized and prizes will be awarded to category winners.

Following the contest the children will parade down Main Street at 5:30 pm., which is followed by the Cruise-in parade at 6 p.m.

The children’s parade is sponsored the US Bank and the Rogersville/Hawkins County Chamber of Commerce.

Extension agents, Lauren Hurd and Jack Price, Program Assistant, Jennifer Lawson, adult volunteer leaders and Honor Club Members are busy preparing games, activities, competitions, and more for the kids to enjoy.

There will be a cow milking simulator, a shelled corn station, a potato dig, shavings play, a farmers’ market, sack races, and more!

The Young’uns Yard is presented to increase awareness of not only historical chores but also the continued importance of agriculture in today’s society.

Bouncy houses will be presented by local business owner, Gabe Brooks of Party Bounce Rentals. Be sure to stop by the Young’uns’ Yard at the intersection of Washington and Depot!
