A Doll & Bear Show will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday (Sept. 30) at Jonesborough Visitors Center, 117 Boone St., to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
What it is: a doll and bear show featuring all types of dolls and bears, from vintage to modern, as well as accessories.
How it benefits St. Jude: Donations are accepted as admission to the venue and all proceeds donated to the children's research hospital.
Some of the highlights: The pumpkin-headed doll shown here is actually a vintage German mechanical toy from the 1920s that moves its arms and legs when wound up and let go (value approximately $2,000); a Madame Alexander "Emily" (from the Dionne quintuplets) from the 1930s; a German bisque doll from the 1800s Kestner (mold #214) worth between $500 to $800; a "ponytail" Barbie, circa 1960; and a modern-day American Girl.
