Mixed in with the crowds of international eclipse-chasers who descended on southern Idaho were dozens of Weber State University students. Members of the school’s HARBOR program took advantage of the unusual astronomical event to launch a high-altitude balloon equipped with cameras and scientific instruments. As the eclipse started, the students sent their experiments more than 90,000 feet into the air before sitting back to enjoy the show.
