Submitted by Vanessa Bennett • May 10, 2020 at 11:33 PM

The Kingsport Chamber is accepting applications for two sessions of its SHOUT! youth leadership program for rising sophomores, juniors and seniors.

The mission of S.H.O.U.T.!® (Students Helping Others Understand Tomorrow) is to develop, in an interactive environment, the leadership skills and community awareness of selected high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. Selected students will be chosen to serve on the Y.E.L.L.! Mayor’s Youth Council after completion of the S.H.O.U.T!® program.

Two different sessions of the youth leadership program are being offered this year.

The first session is during the summer and will run Monday, July 13, through Friday, July 17, with a recognition program on the morning of Saturday, July 18, for parents to attend. Each day will consist of developing leadership skills and community awareness through interactive programs, speakers and other activities, while having fun and making new friends. This session is pending no group restrictions due to COVID-19.

The second session will be a school-year program on Saturdays running August through May. This newly offered session will go further in depth with leadership development and community outreach.

The deadline to submit an application for either class is Friday, May 22.

To receive an application, contact Vanessa Bennett, executive director of operations & talent development, at (423) 392-8813 or email her at vbennett@kingsportchamber.org. Or visit the website at www.KingsportChamber.org.
