Update: Statutory rape suspect arrested

UPDATE: On Sunday afternoon, police located Jessee Creater on Bristol Caverns Highway in Bristol, Tenn. He was reportedly attempting to hide in the woods behind a residence in the 1000 block.

Creater was taken into custody and faces an additional charge of possession of schedule III narcotics. He had previously been charged with statutory rape by an authority figure, interference with an emergency call and theft under $1,000.

BLOUNTVILLE -- The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) is asking for assistance in locating an individual charged with statutory rape by an authority figure.

This morning, just after 5:30 A.M., SCSO received a 911 call in reference to a sexual assault that had just occurred involving a juvenile victim.

Upon investigating the incident, Detective Michelle Gilliam learned that the suspect, Jessee Creater (pronounced “crater”), age 36, of Bristol, Tenn., was observed engaging in sexual activity with the juvenile. The individual who observed the incident attempted to call 911 and Creater took the phone from the individual’s hand. Creater then left the residence on foot.

Jessee Creater is an acquaintance of the victim and the victim’s family. Creater has been responsible for the care of the juvenile at times when the victim’s family has been working.

Jessee Creater was not located in the area upon the arrival of patrol officers. An arrest warrant has been issued charging Creater with statutory rape by an authority figure, interference with an emergency call, and theft under $1,000.
