CHURCH HILL — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Church Hill on Friday.

According to local authorities, the TBI was asked by Attorney General Dan Armstrong to take over the investigation due to the deceased being indirectly related to a Church Hill police officer through an in-law.

As of Monday, foul play hadn’t been ruled out, and the TBI was awaiting the results of an autopsy and other forensic evidence, according to a local source.

TBI spokesperson Leslie Earhart stated Monday, “At the request of 3rd District Attorney General Dan Armstrong, TBI Agents are investigating a death that occurred Friday morning at a residence in the 400 block of South Central Avenue in Church Hill. The victim, an adult female, was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Earhart added that the woman’s body has been sent for an autopsy, and at this time the investigation remains active and ongoing.

The name of the deceased hadn’t been released as of Monday afternoon.
